Sissel M Bergh is working with scenic installations and performances where she make use of everything available to materialize a mental, emotional, empatical, intellectual, playfull, spiritual experience. She is working in video, sound, objects, drawings, paintings, light… to reach, touch, provoke, balance, passify, activate, move, enjoy, break, bring, connect, cry out, bother you, herself and everybody else. It´s with an utopian hope and effort to authonomy she continue to restructure, unlock, decode and rearrange,

- Now I want to work with monuments! Monuments that are falling, sinking, dangeling, jumping, crying, begging. Monuments of what gets lost, monuments of the underdogs, the anonymous, the hopeless, the helpless, the voiceless, the priceless. Monuments over knowledge that cannot be put in words. Monuments over silence or silent monuments. Monuments that are grossly overdimentioned or too small to be seen. (2009)

Sissel Mutale Bergh (1974) is educated from the National Academy of fine arts, Oslo – Norway and University of Technology – Fine art depatement, Durban – South Africa. She has lived and worked both in Lusaka, Zambia - where she co-founded Munandi Art Studio - and Oslo, Norway since 2004. Currently she is based in Trondheim, Norway
